Literature Text
I feel the rhythm of his heart,
beneath the boards the beating starts;
as reason from my mind departs,
I fall apart, I fall apart.
The men who knocked upon my door,
not knowing what's beneath my floor
will want to settle up the score -
I do implore, I do implore
This guilt breaks conscience with my lie -
my wracking sobs and wretched sighs.
I never meant for him to die.
It was his eye, it was his eye!
beneath the boards the beating starts;
as reason from my mind departs,
I fall apart, I fall apart.
The men who knocked upon my door,
not knowing what's beneath my floor
will want to settle up the score -
I do implore, I do implore
This guilt breaks conscience with my lie -
my wracking sobs and wretched sighs.
I never meant for him to die.
It was his eye, it was his eye!

The Monotetra
The monotetra is a modern form created by Michael Walker. It uses
monorhyme (each line has the same ending rhyme) and iambic
tetrameter. It features quatrains and its true uniqueness comes from the
last line of each stanza being a statement of 4 syllables repeated.
This one is loosely based on Poe's "The Tell Tale Heart"
