Skin

If while lying in her arms
I feel that languid ache,
as if all of heaven threatened
to break open
and overtake the last beguiling
breath of night,
then I still would not feel
desire slaked or tire of her charms.

So I will linger here awhile,
entwined with limbs askew,
as if to capture God's final wish
within her smile
and captivate the soft, defiant
weight of light
that I might sate my senses
in her skin, its pale, translucent bloom.
