The meadow beckons
fresh arrival of morning treasure
spilled out in a bright pastel haze
where moss green breathes with ochre
and pinks and lavenders
nod their lazy heads
and touch the wind with fragrant wings.
warmth steals through soil and roots
and winds up stems and trunks
bursting in new shoots
and gasps of color
that spatter the air
in a riot of fresh hope
newly wrapped and delivered
to the waiting world.
For Spring...

Beautiful welcoming of spring. It captures it quite nicely, and I know that's hard to do - I've been trying.

Not to be a wet blanket but you forgot the month of rain required for Spring to spring forth. lol

Really beautiful. And to be honest, this better paints Spring than that month of rain.

"morning treasure spilled out in a pastel haze" Like the stuff you hear in songs and quietly think 'wow.'

Ohh, this one makes me excited.. k, k--
You have this indescribable gift of making your images flow into one another "pinks, lavenders --- nod..."

It's a gift to us readers I truly admire-
And! by taking me down into the soil, up with the warmth to burst like an orgasm with color and life- I saw it, I was there and the meadow was clear as daylight and with vivid color--
then the meadow was wrapped up, my mind withdrew, and it's all there- just waiting to be freshly explored, the poem's over- but the meadow still breathes.

It's the action words, all those... delicious action words... sly Brendan, very sly.

Beautiful imagery. I really enjoyed the poem. I only question one word: gasp. Gasp tends to have a negative connotation that doesn't seem to fit the poem. Otherwise, it's very well written.

Good point, but I was thinking along the lines of "gasps of pleasure", which do exist. I also like to deliberately pick words that jar just a bit and judicially use them for effect. Thanks!

I had never thought of hope as fresh or riotous...that alone made this alive.

Hope is always fresh to me...riotous, I grant you, is a bit odd...
