I wanted to dress her
in cool, sky blue lapis
so she would remember my eyes
and ivory so fragile
that the thin air would break,
and gold sashes to circle her thighs.
I wanted to bring her
cool orange blossom water
to feed her dates sugared in wine,
and figs ripe with honey
that sweetened her fingers
and fresh berries that burst on the vine.
I wanted to teach her
the language of lovers
in words that would capture her soul,
with lush crimson notes
and filigree silver
with a heart grown brazen and bold.

Feel free to let me know if this next part gets a bit too personal. I've been told I have boundary issues.
