Description

For as long as the good people of the quaint and rustic village, Gunck-on-Teethes, could remember, Dr. Maxwell Silver's Flying Circus and Curiosity Show had been coming to town every spring. Its rides and attractions were legendary; although if you were to ask any of its patrons specific questions about their experiences, they were always hard pressed to recall any details. Of particular amusement for the children was the somewhat odd carousel, operated for as long as anyone could remember by a somewhat peculiar woman who went by the name Shazelle. It was rumored that she had a third eye in the back of her head and could read a person's secret heart simply by staring into his eyes (a habit that many people found disturbing). There were legends that some who rode the horses never returned.

Unfortunately, during the circus' visit in 1911, young Bartholemew Whistlethrop was one such victim. To add to the tragedy, no one (even his parents) seemed too terribly upset when his horse returned without him. Little Bartholemew had a terrible reputation in the village as a prankster and thief, and had even gone so far as to drown the mayor's cat in the well in the village square.

On hearing of her son's disappearance Mrs. Whistlethrop was was overheard to remark, "Well, there's plenty more where that came from."

I cannot find the creator of the tower in the background. If anyone knows who it is, please let me know so I can give credit.
