My reluctant brother -
grey suited hair
and that scar
beating on your lip
like an unfortunate rhyme -
long have I thought of you.
Your pockets are shallow wastrels
and in the crisp folds
of your trousers,
I find that time
is a leper -
an ill-fated star
that pocks this dream witted night
and turns my tears
to sober music.
For I have found your hopes
a hollow thing -
your promises a cold frost
for my supper
and all your pretty words
the still birth of my misfortune.

Unfortunately, you speak my mind with this piece. I know it these thoughts well, but you have said them so much more eloquently than I could have done. Amazing...

This is fantastic.

"I find that time

an ill-fated star
that pocks this dream witted night
and turns my tears
to sober music." ---> Absolutely brilliant.

When the dark grey
of fall
will mold into the brightness
of the evershifting eerie
of your poems
Then, my friend, will
beauty rule the world
once more.

Wonderful, love.

Ever-amazed, I always have to pause for a long while, after reading (and re-reading) you.
You make language, beauty and magic new - each time - and inexhaustible.

You are a true artist--you draw a picture of your brother's soul with words, so that the reader can feel it.
Bravo!

My brother isn't a bad guy...but he has never liked working for someone else and now he is physically incapable of earning his living the way he used to(contractor/landscaper) so he is without anything, living in a broke down mobile home.....I love him to peices, but I see the waste of his life...I can even see the point at which there was no turning back off the road he is now on....it breaks my heart a little....but I can't make his choices for him..
